ABOUT KOUNTRY NEKTAR LTD

Kountry Nektar Ltd is a family owned and operated distilling company, established in 2020.

During the Covid-19 pandemic, we were noticing that numerous new brands of hand sanitizers were being put on shelves everywhere. As your were aware of, Purell was unable to keep up with the supply and demand of the world wide pandemic. As a result, thousands of new hand sanitizers using various ingredients, were showing up on shelves everywhere. We must have tested at least 40 - 50 different hand sanitizers before we said "enough is enough" and went to the drawing board. Some of these hand sanitizers smelt like wet dogs, some like floor cleaners and others like tequila. Any company who thinks it's ok to sell this type of product should be embarrassed. Not only is it unethical, it's unsafe!

Our goal was to eliminate all the harsh chemicals you see in these hand sanitizers, including the use of technical grade ethanol. Chemicals like "acetaldehyde, acetate, acetone and methanol". This is just a few of the many chemicals that are extremely toxic and being absorbed into the skin at high levels, especially since its being used numerous times daily. People are just not aware of what they were putting on their hands and body.

Not only do we want to raise awareness, we want to make a change for the better goodness of peoples health, their friends health, their families health, our friends and families health.

How did we achieve these? By distilling CLEAN, FOOD GRADE, DRINKABLE ETHANOL, CUT THE WAY IT SHOULD BE and softened up with a touch of natural hand moisturizer and a cleaning sterilizer of 3% hydrogen peroxide.

3 ingredients, that's it. #1- Drinkable alcohol (ethanol from fruit and grains) #2- Food Grade Glycerol #3- 3% Hydrogen Peroxide

There are 4 cuts to distilling drinkable alcohol

• First cut is called FORESHOTS - is the first vapour to boil off during a distillation run and is suppose to be discarded, as it contains methanol, is poisonous and should not be consumed.

• Second cut is called HEADS - and contains compounds such as Acetaldehyde and Acetate. These chemicals not only taste harsh but they smell bad (like a wet dog) and should be set a side in the feints tank for a future spirit run.

• Third and most important cut is called the HEARTS - this is ethanol and is the bread and butter. The most desirable congeners. Hearts are rich in flavour, smell sweet and taste quite smooth like a premium vodka. This is drinkable, the stuff you want. Good rule of thumb is 196-203 Fahrenheit and usually +80% abv (+160 proof) to below 65% abv (130 proof).

• Fourth cut is called TAILS - as hearts give way to tails, sweetness disappears, rich congener flavours dull and taste become bitter. Tossed in feints tank and used later for future ruins.

As of now, distilling companies are being allowed to run "ALL 4 CUT WITHOUT HAVING TO DISCARD ANYTHING". Yes, this allows them to yield more product, yet risks people health. Sure it's cheaper, but it's cheaper for a reason. Come on guys, not only is this just bad practise, you should know better!

As for the other companies who are not distillers, they are allowed to buy technical grade ethanol and mix their own hand sanitizers. Technical grade ethanol has the most contaminants, highest impurity levels and high concentration levels of acetaldehyde that contain additives known to be toxic to animals and humans. Out of all the ethanal grade, this is by far the worst! It's also "not food grade". Furthermore, Health Canada has issued a recall for hand sanitizers using this and failing to comply with federal regulations and, considered hazardous to your health. Technical grade ethanol has 800 -1200 parts per million, whereas ethanol usually found in hand sanitizer has only 10 parts per million of acetaldehyde. That's 100x higher! The more acetaldehyde you are exposed to, the higher risk for health concerns. Acetaldehyde, a product that is associated with breathing problems, cancer, high blood pressure, and development issues for fetuses and children.

Kountry Nektar Ltd looks at it this way. If you can consume the product, it's safe to use on your hands. If you cannot consume it, well that's the first question you should ask. What's in it that's not healthy? So, here we are!
